Bill Barter is Director of Education Platforms at The Jackson Laboratory, where he leads the Online and Digital Education and Marketing teams within JAX Genomic Education. His work focuses on creating scalable, accessible learning experiences to support the global biomedical workforce, including the development of open-access MicroLessons and MiniCourses, and advancing strategic marketing initiatives that increase the visibility and impact of JAX’s education programs.
Bill brings more than 35 years of experience launching innovative digital solutions for STEM education across startups, corporations, and nonprofits. He has held senior leadership roles at McGraw-Hill Higher Education, Link-Systems International, and other organizations, with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering impactful learning technologies.
He is a co-principal investigator on a National Human Genome Research Institute-funded initiative to develop genomics curricula for community college students. Bill holds a BA in English and American Literature from Brandeis University.
